Dear Mike,

Vandana was born in the village of Bhanpur, Jaunpur, which is located in the region of Uttar Pradesh, India. She graduated from JS Girls Intermediate College in June 2012 with a major in arts. She also stood First Division in the Uttar Pradesh Board examination.

Her father, Om, has a small shop in which he makes and sells sweets, and her mother, Geeta, is a housewife who also assists the family by working as a part-time sweet maker. Vandana lives with her parents, grandparents (Harish and Champa), and her brother Keertimaan. They all live together in a small mud house.

Besides reading books, Vandana’s spare time is spent helping her mother in her household work. She plans to be a lawyer.

Her father, Chandra Bhushan  is a farmer and her mother Nisha is a housewife . They live in the village of Diha in the Jaunpur District of eastern U.P.

She has one brother – Kishan and three sisters Nupur, Neeta and Aneeta. Her grandparents Sharda Prashad and Amrawati Devi also live with her.

Her hobbies are to watch Cricket matches and hopes to get an opprtunity to play in one of them.

She wants to join the Indian Civil Service after graduation from college.

She is 58 years old, and lives in the village of Daudhi, Mariahu in the Jaunpur district of eastern Uttar Pradesh in India.  She suffers with chronic Hypertension.  She has been under treatment at the JSM Medical Clinic since August of 2010.

Her husband, Salturam, is a farmer.  They have 7 children (Kalawati, Kusum, Rajesh, Rekha, Mamta, Mahesh and Pappu).  The ever present burden of sustaining the family bears hard on her.
