Jagruti is ready to break out of the mold

Dear Sarah and Shalini,

Jagruti just completed high school in Uttar Pradesh, India. She lives with her father, who is a farmer, and mother, who stays home to take care of Jagruti and her four siblings. Jagruti wishes to attend college for art but her family cannot afford her tuition.

Jagruti graduated from high school at the top of her class. She is driven and intelligent but needed additional financial support to pursue her dreams. JSM Trust works in Uttar Pradesh to help girls like Jagruti complete their higher education.

With your support, Shalini and Sarah, Jagruti can now attend college free of charge. Jagruti is breaking the mold from the 80 percent of illiterate girls in her town.

Vimala hopes to better manage her diabetes

Dear Anmol,

Vimla was born in April 1961 in the village of Mehandi, which is located in the Jaunpur district of eastern Uttar Pradesh, India. She is a housewife and her husband, Girija, is a laborer working for $3.50 per day. They have no children.

Vimla started feeling very week after she turned 50. Her feet started swelling and her eyesight started getting weaker. She traveled to the JSM Health Clinic and was diagnosed with diabetes at the JSM Clinic. She has been receiving treatment at the Clinic since December 2009 and  has been educated about the causes of diabetes. She now knows how she should rearrange her life, particularly diet and exercise, to better manage her situation. When told what she should eat during each meal, she gave a sad smile and said she eats whatever she manages to get on that day.

Your generous donation will provide Vimala with much needed medications for a period of 12 months.  She is appreciative and thankful to you, Anmol, for your generosity.

Neha is ready for the Indian Administrative Services

Neha was born in 1994 and is a senior at the JS Girls’ Intermediate College, which is located in the village of Shiwpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh, India. She is majoring in commerce. Her father, Rajesh, is an auto mechanic and lives in a distant town. Her mother, Neelam, is a housewife. She comes from the town of Mariahu.

Neha lives with her grandparents Bakelal and Ramapati, sisters Sonam, Shraddha and Anamika, and brothers Vishal and Abhishek. Her grandfather is very old yet he still works in the fields to support his grandchildren.

Neha spends her spare time listening to music and relaxing. She hopes for high marks in the upcoming yearly examinations so that she can compete for the Indian Administrative Services.

Nidhi was born in 1996 and is a 12th grader majoring in commerce in the JS Girls’ Intermediate College. Her father, Mahendra, is a veterinarian and her mother, Reeta, is a housewife . They live in the village of Tadiya in the Jaunpur District of eastern Uttar Pradesh, India

Nidhi lives with her parents and brother Shivam, as well as her sisters Savita, Anuradha and Anupma. She loves to watch cricket matches in her spare time and wants to join the chartered accountant service after graduation.

Your kindness saved Triloki’s life!

Dear Mike,

Triloki was born in October 1961 in the village of Mainpur, which is located in the Jaunpur district of eastern Uttar Pradesh, India. He is a farmer and he and his wife have two daughters and three sons.

When Triloki first walked into the JSM Health Clinic, he had a sugar level so high that physicians had to monitor him for a few days during treatment before they could send him back home.  He is on daily insulin and has learned how to administer it with the help of Clinic staff.

Triloki has been receiving treatment at the Clinic since May 2008. He has been educated about the causes for developing diabetes and how he should alter life practices to better manage his disease.

When asked about how is he doing, he folded both his hands in gratitude and said that he got a second life since he started receiving the treatment.

Your generous donation will provide Triloki with much needed medications for a period of 12 months.  He is appreciative and thankful to you for that.
